Player Recruiting Action Plan (Step-by-Step)

STEP 1: Create Your PlayMetrics Recruiting Profile

1. Log into PlayMetrics

  • Go to your PlayMetrics account.
  • Navigate to the Recruiting Profile section.

2. Complete 100% of Your Profile

Make sure the following are filled out:
Basic Information
  • Full Name
  • Graduation Year
  • Position(s)
  • Jersey Number
  • Height / Weight
  • Dominant Foot
Contact Information
  • Player email (NOT just parent email)
  • Parent email
  • Player phone number
Academic Information
  • GPA
  • Intended major (if known)
  • Test scores (if available)
Soccer Information
  • Club name: Dutch FC 2010 Boys Ajax
  • Coach name + contact info
  • League
  • Honors / awards
  • Leadership roles
πŸ‘‰ Rule: If a college coach clicks your profile, they should NOT have to search for missing information.

STEP 2: Create a 1–2 Minute Highlight Video (From Pixellot)

This is critical. Coaches don’t watch full games. They watch highlights.

Step 2A: Access Your Game Film

  • Log into your Pixellot account.
  • Select your best 3–5 games from the season.

Step 2B: Select Your Best 8–15 Clips

Choose clips that show:
  • First touch
  • Decision-making
  • Speed of play
  • Defensive work rate
  • Goals / assists
  • Off-ball movement
  • Communication
⚠️ Important: Quality over quantity.
8–15 strong clips is perfect.

Step 2C: Edit Into a 1–2 Minute Video

Use:
  • iMovie
  • CapCut
  • Final Cut
  • Any simple editing app
Video Structure:
  1. Opening Slide (5 seconds)
      • Name
      • Position
      • Graduation Year
      • Height / Weight
      • Jersey number
      • Email + phone
      • Club name
  1. Game Clips
      • Circle or arrow to identify yourself before each play
      • Show 3–5 seconds BEFORE your action
      • Keep clips short and sharp
  1. Best Play = First
    1. Put your strongest clip at the beginning.
πŸ‘‰ Think of this as your trailer. Not the full movie.

STEP 3: Upload Highlight Video to YouTube

1. Log into YouTube

  • Use your player email account.

2. Upload the Video

  • Title format:
    • 2028 Grad – [Player Name] – Dutch FC – Highlight Video
  • Description should include:
    • Position
    • Height / Weight
    • GPA
    • Contact information
    • Coach contact information

3. Set Video to:

Unlisted (so coaches can view with the link)

4. Copy the YouTube Link

STEP 4: Add Highlight Video to PlayMetrics Profile

  • Go back to PlayMetrics
  • Paste the YouTube link into your Recruiting Profile
  • Double-check that the link works
πŸ‘‰ Test it. If it doesn’t load in 2 clicks, fix it.

STEP 5: Create Your Top 10 College List

This forces clarity.
Each player must create a list of:
  • 3 Reach schools
  • 4 Target schools
  • 3 Safety schools
For each school, research:
  • Division level (D1, D2, D3, NAIA)
  • Academic fit
  • Location
  • Soccer program competitiveness
  • Intended major availability
Put this into a simple Google Sheet:
School
Division
Why I'm Interested
Coach Email
Status
This becomes your recruiting pipeline.

STEP 6: Send Intro Email to College Coaches

Now we execute.
Each player sends a personalized email to their Top 10 schools.

STEP 7: Track Responses Weekly

Recruiting is not a one-time action. It’s a weekly discipline.
Every week:
  • Follow up with 2–3 schools
  • Update your spreadsheet
  • Track who responds
  • Track camps/showcases
What gets measured gets managed.
